I am a Mommy!

I am sorry I haven't posted anything in a while.  This past month was a whirlwind!!!  
I am so happy to say that my life has officially changed forever.  I am a mommy!!!  Our precious daughter was born on October 27, 2010, weighing 6 pounds and measuring 19 inches long.  She is a beautiful little girl.  We have been blessed and are so grateful to God!  What an expression of love that her birth parents chose!  I will always have love in my heart for them.  Please pray for them as they move on with their lives.     

Good Reason to Buy a Happy Meal

I read in one of my magazines that every time you purchase a Happy Meal from McDonald's the proceeds support Ronald McDonald House Charities.  I have always been a fan of Happy Meals since I was little now I feel even more inclined to purchase them more often.  By the way, I believe the portion size provided in a Happy Meal use to be the adult portion size many years ago.  Please check out the provided link to Ronald McDonald House Charities rmhc.org to see what services are provided to families with sick children.

It's a Match

It is official we met with the birth parents and we have chosen each other!  They are a terrific young couple and are making the ultimate sacrifice for their baby.  They know that they can not provide the life that their baby deserves so they have  chosen to place the baby in our care.  We are very excited!  She is having a girl and is due November 23rd.  What a wonderful Thanksgiving gift!  Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.  Please continue to pray for both the birth parents and us.

Possible Match Situation

We received a phone call from Michelle at Adoption Answer because we were chosen by a birth mother/birth father!  We have agreed to meet this Sunday with this couple to discuss the adoption.  We are excited but reserving a celebration until we meet face to face and have our assurances.  Please pray for us and the birth parents as this will be a life changing choice for all of us.  I will keep you posted regarding our decision.

This year I am participating in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes and I want you to join my team,

This year is a big deal for me because it marks my 20th year of diabetes and the walk is scheduled on the day I was diagnosed back in 1990! 

So immediately following the walk I am going to throw a huge party. A party celebrate fighting diabetes for 20 years and to celebrate all of those PWD's out there who fight every day. It's not about me, it's about us.

Congratulations Horton Family

My very good friend and her husband just welcomed their first child into their lives yesterday.  Her name is Amelia and she weighs 13lbs., 9oz. and is 19 inches tall.  She is a beautiful little bundle of joy.  I am so happy for them. God bless the Horton family!

Adoption Update

I want to give an update about our adoption since I haven't written about it yet. On Monday, August 23rd we received a phone call from Michelle at Adoption Answer.  She called to tell us that a birth mom was presented with our profile and she chose us to adopt her baby.  When that phone rang at 9:30 in the morning and Todd said "hello Michelle" my heart dropped.  I was excited because I knew what the call was for.  She gave us background information on the birth mom and after a tearful conversation with Todd we decided to pass on this situation.  I have to say I was not anticipating this situation and all the emotions involved.  Part of me just wants a baby so bad that I will say yes to any situation and the other part of me wants to be as sensible as possible.  I believe we made the right choice but I have a little guilt because I want the birth mom and her baby to be in a safe environment and well taken care of.  I never thought we would say no to a birth mom and I hope our choice didn't hurt her too badly.


We have only been waiting for a couple months to be matched with the right birth mom but it feels like an eternity.  I guess I had this fairy tale situation in my head that our match would happen immediately.  I have good days and bad. Some days I'm really positive and feel that the call will come soon and other days I feel it is never going to happen.  As you know I am a faith filled person but I need your prayers to help me get through this time of waiting.  Thank you for your support.  

Important Tax Information

Hi all,

I came across these websites and thought I should pass this important information on.  On December 31, 2010 the Bush tax cuts will fully expire unless Congress renews them.  Please check out the following sites and see for yourself.  If these tax cuts expire we should all expect to see a huge increase in our taxes.  I don't know how you all feel but I know I am sick and tired of working so hard just for our government to put their big hand out and expect more and more of my money.

Welcome to my blog!

Well here goes...

I am excited to share our adoption story and my thoughts on being a wife, mother and Christian woman.  I guess I should start by sharing a little background info.  I have been married for over seven years to my best friend, Todd.  We share a wonderful life together and are blessed to have each other.  

We have always wanted to have children and approximately a year ago we started researching adoption.  We spoke with couples who have adopted, met with various companies offering adoption services and finally we found Michelle Dettman from Adoption Answer.  She truly is the answer to our prayers and as of June 12, 2010 we have been contracted with her.  We are now waiting to be matched with a birth mom.

Our journey to become parents has been difficult and emotion filled.  At times the wait is unbearable but we have faith that the path we have chosen is what God has designed for us.  Please pray for us to be strong, patient and faith filled.  Thanks you for sharing this journey with us.
